William Johnson Pit bulls and their owners are a drain on society

Seems more like pitbull hating then victim advocacy, I can't see too much talk of victims , can you?
This happened in California but made the news here in Philadelphia. Why do some stories get national attention. And some, even fatalities, barely get noticed outside of the local area. A baby was killed by his family pit bull in Florida days ago and it wasn't news here. But this is?
San Mateo, California police claim they had no choice but to use a patrol car to run down two vicious dogs that bit one woman, and charged at several other people.

  • William Johnson A baby killed by his own dog while playing on his own porch isn't sensational?

We got an inch of snow on Tuesday. That was the story. Today it's 40 degrees and sunny, no weather to report so this makes the news.

  • Julie Russell Weyer I wish we would see more shoot first (or run over in this case) ask questions later when it comes to pit bulls. Too many get saved for some ungodly reason if they aren't put down right away...

  • William Johnson I agree to that Laurie Kuhn. But I don't think this story paints the police in a bad light.

I only knew that this story made the news here because one of my friends sent it to me. So, yeah it's good that it got picked up, but I'd rather the death of Declan Moss, killed by his family pet bull, be national news.

  • William Johnson Pit bulls and their owners are a drain on society. Publicly funded shelters are full of them, they cost countless hours of police time, who knows how many millions of dollars in medical bills. The only one who benefits are the dog fighters and money raising "rescues" that take in the dog fighters rejects.

  • Wayne Webb If the little boy in Florida had been a dog, killed by a human, it WOULD be news; and there would be a lot more people upset too. Evidently, human life has little value anymore.

  • William Johnson Let me rephrase the question. Why does the Philadelphia media cover a story about the police being forced to kill an aggressive pit bull in CA while not covering pit bull attacks in Philadelphia?
