Media Mistake………Never!

By
The Pit Bull advocacy for years have been claiming that the media is biased when it comes to dog attacks and what hits the National news. Dogsbite.org is the first one to share the news when a Pit Bull/type or a “dangerous” dog breed is involved. It is no secret, the other attacks caused by other breeds take a back seat in the spotlight, those don’t get the followers excited. But when the attack involves a “dangerous Dog breed” all hands on deck.
Reports came out less than 24 hours ago that a 2-year-old boy was dragged by a dog in a park. Quickly the headline pointed to a ROTTWEILER.

Then within hours updates to the attack confirm that the dog in question was not a Rottweiler, rather a Lab/Mix named Dexter. The child’s Godmother confirmed the dogs identity since she was present during the attack.

The dog obviously doesn’t appear to be a Rottweiler in the photo. There are differences in both news reports such as the child’s age, etc. But the fact of the matter is, the dog isn’t a ROTTWEILER. Do they have the right dog? According to the Godmother they do. Comments from the Anti Pit Bull community are typical, take a look:

Some of the comments in the above screenshot are just so entertaining. For example this one from Lisa Gaffney, This story identifies the dog as a Labrador Mix (code for Pit Bull mix)“. Code for Pit Bull mix? Jan Smith does clear that up for Lisa, “The dog is clearly not a pure Lab, but its looks don’t immediately say pit bull mix“. Again, referring to a previous article from WICL(Dogsbite.org Supporters Can’t Identify A Dog….Well What Is It?), the Anti Pit Bull community has a HARD time identifying dogs by their breed. Which scares me and fellow advocates, because the Anti Pit Bull community advocates and encourages poisoning, eliminating, stabbing, shooting, banning, etc., anything that looks like a Pit Bull.
The Anti Pit Bull community and Dogsbite.org are the first ones to scream, “the media isn’t biased”. We, the Pit Bull supporters disagree. Headlines typically have the word “Pit Bull” in them, now you see more headlines with “Rottweiler”. But when the dog that attacks is a Lab/mix the breed isn’t mentioned in the headlines. If that isn’t biased, I don’t know what is. Bottom line a child was hurt, a dog did it, punish the dog, not the entire breed, Rottweilers, or in this case, LAB/MIX. Because Frankly, we would be banning a lot more dog breeds wouldn’t we?

***** By the way, when this article went “published” to the internet, at least 24 hours after the update, and 36 hours after the attack, Dogsbite.org has not posted a link nor commented, I guees this child doesn’t matter because it wasn’t a PIT BULL.
