San Francisco ACC publishes nasty lies to discredit rescuer

San Francisco, CA: An angry blogger affiliated with the REAL deal Charlie Facebook page has attempted a creative writing career through use of a dated memo filled with heresay, lies and allegations from a San Francisco dog trainer and the deputy director of San Francisco Animal Care and Control. The dog trainer whose libelous allegations made to the deputy director jumpstarted this nasty campaign also serves on the board of Friends of San Francisco Animal Care and Control and at the time was a SFACC 'green volunteer.'

What these individuals have neglected to recognize besides the truth are also the collected documents concerning any animals ever pulled from SFACC by Reunion Rescue. That includes all A# computer identification, all kennel cards, medical bills, adoption and foster applications along with every communication between San Francisco Animal Control and Reunion Rescue including the unprinted emails the angry blogger omitted in his tirade.
Reunion Rescue was banned (illegally) from SFACC by Carl Friedman April 29, 2003 following the near killing of Slappy, called Diamond at SFACC, in front of her adopters. The adopters have issued a testimony of their account of the situation at the hands of an SFACC 'green volunteer' who opened up a high pressure hose on Slappy the day after her spay operation.
This recent memo falsely accusing Reunion Rescue of threatening, killing and abusing dogs has recently been siphoned to the angry blogger for publication. According to this blogger, whose previous WordPress blog and All Voices blog were removed due to printing unsubstantiated claims, Reunion Rescue, a 501©(3) was banned due to the claims in this 'memo' which has recently surfaced from the bay area via SFACC.
The blogger claims he obtained his information through use of Freedom of Information Act, however, when Reunion Rescue requested the same data several times, we were ignored and finally told to contact the very person who issued the memo filled with untruths and harmful unsubstantiated information and gossip in the first place.
This article is to clear up the accusations made by SFACC deputy director, the trainer and Friends of SFACC board member with their names carefully blacked out.
Tish the dog came from a horrible abuse in which Reunion Rescue still has photographs collected to use in a court case against her abusers. When the blacked out SFACC volunteer/cum dog trainer/cum Friends of SFACC board member approached Reunion to become a foster home, we were thrilled. Tish, her crate and goodies were delivered to this 'dog trainer' and a quick trip to our good friends at Jeffrey's Natural Pet Foods to pick up some food to maintain Tish's healthy diet.
Upon returning to the 'trainer's' home, we were met at the door with Tish leashed and attached to a choke chain. Reunion's paperwork has a lifelong history of stipulating no choke chains. When addressed, the trainer firmly stated, 'If Tish is staying in this house, she'll be wearing a choke chain. That's how we train."
I answered, 'well, I guess you better get me her crate…' and left with Tish.
According to the memo which states that this trainer had fostered other Reunion dogs, which is completely false, I allegedly left Tish in my truck. This is false as Tish was taken to my attorney's home for foster care that very night where she remained for about a week before securing a longer term foster home until she was adopted to a loving single dad with three daughters.
In the first false allegation, the 'trainer' cum board member, states a garbled tale of a dog called Zoe. This dog had been renamed 'Zooey' by the woman who was fostering to adopt as is Reunion Rescue's longtime process. Zooey had been pulled from SFACC as an 8 week puppy with her leg fractured in four places. We called her Daisy Duke.
When the foster to adopt suggested taking 'Zooey' to this trainer in trade out for some personal body training, Reunion Rescue objected. Again, Zooey had also suffered horrible abuse and we didn't want her to ever feel pain again.
The relationship between Reunion and Zooey's foster to adopt became broken when the trainer intervened and instructed Zooey's foster mom to enlist SFACC to license and re-vaccinate Zooey so that Reunion would have no claims on Zooey and be unable to protect her.
Amazingly, in 2006, we were contacted by Zooey's mom and still have the exchange of emails. The training must have backfired as cruelty methods often do and Zooey had exhibited some aggression issues with other dogs. Besides hurting the dog, one of the main reasons Reunion Rescue only uses positive training along with herbal/holistic support is because it simply works.
Zooey's mom took advantage of our lifelong guarantee to take back or re-home any dog the adopter or foster to adopt can no longer care for, no questions asked. In the case of Zooey, they opted to try another form of training and Zooey ended up living a long life until perishing from a brain tumor.
The last blacked out commentary on this memo regards some nasty accusations about Blue Cross Pet Hospital where Reunion Rescue once boarded dogs. In fact, we rescued one of their dogs who'd been saved by a client and didn't want the puppy to go to SFACC.
According to these claims, Reunion left dogs unclaimed and had dogs killed at Blue Cross. Last comment by deputy director paid by the citizens of San Francisco, 'the exact total of dogs that Cindy has euthanized at Blue Cross is not known.'
At least, these people are finally stating they do not know, however, this hasn't stopped a memo filled with lies to be released to a blogger who was turned down by this very publication to post his 'expose' on Reunion Rescue's being banned at SFACC.
This blogger has written a series of inflammatory pieces including an entire document about a simple post in which I asked a question about a dog in which animal control had been called and the case's relation to the Charlie debacle. This angry man attempted to twist my words to reflect an endorsement for choke chains. His next entry is the lie-filled memo in which I removed a dog for being subjected to an inhumane form of 'training' on a choke chain.
The blogger opted to purchase a website domain and disguise it as a 'blog' to be used to print untruthful remarks about a rescue with 15 years of hard work saving, not killing and abusing animals.
The group of which this man is a member has been posting his 'stories' beneath my articles, on Reunion Rescue's causes page and pages used to help the animals in our care. The nastiest slurs and attacks in the comments section(s) have come from this man's associates at the REAL deal Charlie group. Due to a series of articles I've written questioning the ongoing and expensive effort to take a man's dog, this man and his group have turned their vendetta upon Reunion Rescue and myself.
This article is a first to try and clear up the poisonous libel being spread across the internet in an attempt to discredit the work we do 24/7 to help animals.
Reunion Rescue and Cindy Marabito have a bit of advice for all parties concerned. Why not leash up your dog, no choke chains, and head out for a walk. It does wonders for the dog and might also clear a hostile mind.
